Renogy equipment, supplied and fitted

Choose a complete electrical upgrade or help with one part of your existing system. We assess your appliances, driving pattern, charging sources and available space before recommending equipment.

  • DC–DC battery chargers and compatible charging upgrades.
  • Leisure batteries and lithium battery conversions.
  • Inverters, including 1,000W, 2,000W and 3,000W options selected for your loads.
  • Battery monitoring, fuses, isolation and distribution wiring.
  • Fault finding on existing camper electrical installations.

Supply-and-fit quotations specify the exact models, installation scope and any additional work. Customer-supplied equipment can be assessed for fitting.

Recent SP88 installation

Shannon recently fitted a Renogy battery charger, a 2,000W inverter and two lithium batteries for a customer. This is an example of the type of system SP88 can install. Your battery capacity and charging equipment will be selected for your own vehicle and appliances.

Which leisure battery should you choose?

LiFePO4 lithium: suited to regular off-grid use. Generally lighter for comparable stored energy, with more usable capacity and longer cycle life than AGM. It costs more initially and needs compatible charging, suitable current capability and temperature protection. LiFePO4 is a specific lithium chemistry; check the exact battery label.

AGM: worth considering for a lower initial budget. A practical option for occasional trips and modest loads, especially where an existing compatible system can be retained. It is heavier, and repeated deep discharge shortens its life. Around 50% discharge is a common planning target, subject to the manufacturer’s specification.

Gel: consider for an existing gel-based installation. It needs the correct charging profile. Check charge and discharge limits before adding a large inverter.

Flooded lead-acid: a budget option with extra care requirements. Ventilation, secure installation and any maintenance requirements matter. It is usually less attractive where weight, access and regular off-grid use are priorities.

The best battery is the one that matches your energy use, charging opportunities, space and budget—not simply the largest Ah number.

Renogy battery options to discuss

Explore the Renogy range: supply only, supply and fit, or fitting only

Power for work vans, tool charging, campervans and motorhomes should be chosen around your equipment and working day. The £1,995 example package is one option, not the only system we offer.

Choose your inverter size

  • 1,000W: an option for smaller combined loads such as suitable chargers and electronics.
  • 2,000W: an option where your appliance ratings and starting surges need more headroom.
  • 3,000W: an option for higher combined demand, with a suitably designed battery bank, cables and protection.

These are output limits, not runtime promises. We check actual appliance labels, starting surges, battery discharge limits and charging needs before recommending a size. A larger inverter does not add stored battery energy.

Examples from Renogy’s range include the Core Mini 12.8V 100Ah LiFePO4 for compact installations, Core 12V 200Ah LiFePO4 with Bluetooth for greater storage, and Pro 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 with Bluetooth and self-heating for installations where cold-weather charging needs attention.

These are options for a quotation, not a live stock list. Availability, current specifications and suitability are confirmed before ordering. A self-heating battery still needs the charging conditions specified by its manufacturer.

Which inverter size will run what you need?

Safety components for work-van and campervan power installations

A safe installation needs more than a battery and inverter. This checklist explains the equipment to assess for your vehicle; it is not a universal parts list or a DIY wiring guide. Exact components, ratings and any specialist electrical work must be specified in the written quotation. Not every optional item below is included in the starting package.

Battery protection and 12V distribution

  • Secure battery restraints and terminal covers; a battery/BMS rated for the intended loads and charging conditions.
  • DC-rated main and branch fuses with covered holders, selected for cable protection and the battery bank’s potential fault current. Lithium installations require adequate fuse breaking capacity; Class T or another suitably rated solution may be specified.
  • A correctly rated battery isolator and dedicated high-current inverter supply protection.
  • Appropriately sized flexible copper cables, correctly crimped lugs, insulation, cable supports, grommets and abrasion protection.
  • Covered positive and negative busbars where needed, and a covered DC fuse board with individually protected small-load circuits. An ordinary blade-fuse board is not the inverter’s high-current supply path.
  • Compatible DC–DC charging equipment, charging-circuit protection and battery monitoring. Parallel batteries require manufacturer-approved interconnection and protection.

230V inverter supply and sockets

  • An inverter suitable for the intended appliances, continuous load and starting surges.
  • For a fixed socket installation, a suitable enclosed distribution unit with double-pole isolation, circuit overcurrent protection and 30mA RCD/RCBO protection selected for the inverter and loads.
  • Protective conductors and vehicle bonding appropriate to the designed supply arrangement. Any neutral–earth bonding relay must be specified by the exact inverter’s instructions; do not add an improvised bonding link.
  • Secure sockets, suitable AC cabling, strain relief, mechanical protection and separation from DC wiring. Chained extension leads should not form the permanent distribution system.
  • Where external mains is fitted: a suitable inlet, input protection and approved changeover arrangement preventing backfeed, with earthing and protection checked in both inverter and mains modes.

A plug-in RCD alone does not establish that an inverter installation is safe. Protection depends on the source configuration. Its test button does not replace installation testing. Renogy models differ: some specifically require an external neutral–earth bonding relay and RCD/RCBO. The exact model manual must be checked.

Mounting, ventilation and handover

Allow the equipment manufacturer’s cooling clearances and protect equipment from water, heat, cargo damage and blocked vents. Battery ventilation requirements depend on battery type. Provide accessible isolation, circuit and load-limit labels, and operating instructions.

Before use, a competent person must inspect and test the completed installation, including protective-conductor continuity, polarity, appropriate insulation checks and instrument verification of protective-device operation in each supply mode. The applicable electrical requirements, test records and any specialist certification must be agreed for the job; this checklist is not a certificate.

For diesel heaters, combustion-air, exhaust, fuel, ducting and electrical requirements need a separate model-specific assessment: see our diesel heater installation service.

An inverter’s wattage is its output limit, not the amount of energy stored. Appliance starting surges, combined loads and runtime all matter. As an illustration, 2,000W at 12V and 90% efficiency draws about 185A from the battery bank, before other loads. Actual current varies with voltage and efficiency.

We check battery/BMS continuous and surge ratings, charging capacity, cable routes and protection together. Two batteries do not automatically make a suitable bank; matching and parallel connection must follow the battery manufacturer’s requirements.

How to get your installation quoted

Renogy installation prices

Complete Renogy package — supply and fit from £1,995; labour-only fitting from £800 (customer supplies equipment, installation materials extra): two 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries, a 2,000W inverter, 50A DC–DC charger, battery monitor, standard installation cabling, fusing and isolation, setup and testing. Exact models and compatibility are confirmed in your quotation. Solar panels and alterations to existing mains wiring are quoted separately. Allow two fitting days.

Customer-supplied power equipment: labour from £800. Battery, DC–DC charger and inverter installation; installation materials are extra. Allow one to two days, depending on access and the existing system.

Assessment, booking and payment

Start with a free WhatsApp photo assessment. Where a vehicle inspection is needed, the assessment costs £100, credited against an installation booked within 30 days. After we agree the specification and total price, the fitting deposit is £100 for labour-only work or 30% for supply and fit. The balance is due after installation and testing. Fitting dates are confirmed after assessment; sending an enquiry does not reserve a date.

Send your vehicle registration, postcode, photographs of the existing installation and a list of the appliances you want to run. Tell us how long you stay off-grid and whether you drive or use hook-up between stops. We can then confirm the equipment, fitting scope and appointment requirements.
