Rocker Cover Gasket Replacement in South London

Oil around the top of the engine does not automatically prove the rocker-cover gasket has failed. SP88 checks the leak path, crankcase ventilation and nearby seals first, then confirms the correct cover, gasket and related seals for the vehicle.

Confirm the source before replacing parts

Oil can travel from the filler cap, breather hoses, vacuum pump, timing cover, camshaft seals or other joints and collect around the rocker cover. A blocked or failed PCV system can also raise crankcase pressure and push oil past a good seal.

We inspect the highest fresh trace of oil, visible breather condition and accessible ignition components before agreeing a repair. This avoids fitting a gasket when the leak comes from somewhere else.

Signs we investigate

  • Fresh oil around the rocker-cover edge
  • Burning-oil smell or light smoke near the exhaust side
  • Oil in spark-plug wells or on ignition coils
  • Misfire, rough running or a vacuum-leak symptom on covers with integrated ventilation
  • Repeated seepage after a previous gasket repair

Stop and arrange advice if smoke is heavy, oil reaches hot exhaust parts, the oil-pressure warning appears or the engine is losing oil quickly.

What replacement can include

Depending on the engine, the repair may require a separate perimeter gasket, spark-plug-tube seals, bolt grommets or a complete plastic cover with an integrated breather valve. Some designs specify small amounts of sealant only at defined joints; others must be fitted dry.

SP88 matches parts from the registration or VIN, cleans the mating surfaces without dropping debris into the engine, checks the cover for cracks or distortion, follows the specified tightening sequence and rechecks for leaks after the engine has run.

Vehicle-specific access matters

Coils, wiring looms, intake parts or fuel-system components may obstruct the cover. On some diesel and direct-injection engines, high-pressure fuel equipment or injectors make the work unsuitable for a roadside setting. We do not quote a universal labour time or promise that every cover can be repaired mobile.

A cold engine, safe level parking and access around the vehicle are required. Workshop work may be recommended for restricted access, seized fasteners, major oil contamination or additional faults found during inspection.

Appointments and related help

Scheduled services start on weekdays at 10:00, 12:00 or 14:00. Weekends are closed. Send the registration, VIN if available, symptoms and clear photos of the leak area so we can check parts and access before confirming the job.
