Airflow faults diagnosed before replacement
Mass Air Flow Sensor Diagnosis & Replacement in South London
Poor performance, rough running or an airflow fault code does not automatically mean the MAF sensor is defective. SP88 checks intake leaks, wiring, contamination and live data before recommending replacement.

Test the airflow evidence, not just the code
The mass air flow sensor reports intake air to the engine control unit. Incorrect readings can be caused by the sensor or by faults around it.
Fault data
Stored codes, freeze-frame information and relevant live airflow readings are reviewed.
Intake system
Accessible ducts, clamps, airbox sealing and leaks after the sensor are checked.
Electrical supply
Connector condition, wiring, supply and ground are considered where testing is safe and supported.
Contamination causes
Air-filter condition, oil contamination and unsuitable cleaning products are considered before fitting a part.
How the SP88 visit works
1. Vehicle details
Send the registration, symptoms, warning lights and any known fault code.
2. Evidence-led checks
SP88 compares live data with engine conditions and checks the intake and electrical basics.
3. Clear repair route
Only a confirmed, compatible sensor is fitted; adaptations or checks follow where required.
Most diagnosis starts at the vehicle
MAF diagnosis and many replacements are mobile-suitable when access and weather are safe. Complex wiring faults, smoke testing or related engine problems may need workshop equipment.
Safety: Do not continue driving if the engine is stalling in traffic, producing heavy smoke, overheating or entering severe reduced-power mode.
A code can describe a system, not a failed part
Air leaks, EGR issues, boost faults, wiring problems and intake restrictions can all affect measured airflow. SP88 uses the vehicle’s evidence and does not promise that a sensor alone will cure every airflow code.

Questions customers ask
Can a MAF sensor be cleaned instead of replaced?
Cleaning is not automatically safe or effective. Sensor design, contamination and manufacturer guidance matter; unsuitable chemicals can damage the element.
Does unplugging the MAF prove it is faulty?
No. The engine may switch to substitute values, which can mask several faults. Diagnosis needs live data and intake checks.
Can SP88 fit a customer-supplied sensor?
Only after the part number and compatibility are checked. Low-quality or incorrect sensors can create misleading readings.
