Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement in South London

A temperature warning, fan problem or coolant-sensor fault code does not by itself prove the sensor has failed. SP88 checks coolant level, live temperature data, wiring and related cooling-system behaviour first, then confirms the correct sensor and seal.

Separate the sensor from the cooling fault

Incorrect readings can come from low coolant, trapped air, a thermostat fault, damaged wiring, poor connections, a control-module issue or an actual overheating engine. Some vehicles use more than one coolant-temperature sensor for the engine, instrument display or fan control.

We compare available scan data with engine condition and visible cooling-system checks before agreeing replacement.

Symptoms we investigate

  • Temperature gauge reads implausibly high, low or erratically
  • Cooling fan runs constantly or does not behave as expected
  • Difficult cold starting, rich running or increased fuel use
  • Engine warning light with a coolant-temperature circuit code
  • Heater output and live temperature do not agree

Never remove a coolant cap from a hot or pressurised system. Stop the engine if it is overheating, losing coolant quickly or showing a red temperature warning.

Correct sensor, seal and coolant

The registration or VIN helps identify the exact sensor, connector, location and sealing method. A sensor may screw into a housing, clip into a flange or form part of another assembly. O-rings, clips or sealing washers should be replaced where specified.

Coolant lost during the repair must be replaced with the correct specification and concentration. The system may need a vehicle-specific bleeding or vacuum-fill procedure; mixing incompatible coolant or leaving air trapped can create a new fault.

What the service can include

Where suitable, SP88 can inspect the accessible connector and wiring, compare scan-tool readings, replace the confirmed sensor and seal, refill the amount of coolant lost, bleed the system as required and recheck temperature data and leaks.

Mobile work depends on a cold engine, safe level parking, reasonable access and a sound cooling system. Workshop work may be recommended for serious overheating, pressure loss, extensive air-lock risk, inaccessible sensors or additional cooling-system repairs.
