How does the SP88 scrapping process work?

Step 1: Give us a call

A simple phone call is all that is required to scrap your car. To begin, call us at +44 7592 637301 and choose scrap metal and scrap vehicle enquiries.

Step 2: Provide your details

Provide your car registration, your location, along with a brief description of your car’s condition to receive an instant quote.

Step 3: Get your quote

Within seconds, you'll be able to determine the value of your vehicle based on its description. Once you're ready, confirm your payment information, and we'll schedule a collection date and time that works for you.

Step 4: Arranging pickup

We'll call you on your vehicle's pickup day to confirm that the timing is still good. After you confirm, you will be greeted by a courteous Autosave driver who will handle the collection for you. Alternatively, if you want to drop the vehicle off with us, this can also be arranged.

Step 5: Providing your paperwork

If you have your V5 log book, please provide it to our Autosave driver before they remove your vehicle. If you do not have the necessary papers, notify the DVLA before collection. You will also require proper photo identification.

Step 6: Get paid for your scrap vehicle

We'll deposit the money into your bank account the same day we receive the vehicle and documents.

Why should I use SP88.co.uk to get a scrap car estimate and have my car removed?

Most people only scrap a car once in their lives, so we've developed a professional scrap car comparison service that gives UK London consumers information, assistance, and guidance when selling their used automobile, from estimate to trash car collection.

Our value is the first step in our commitment to provide a straightforward manner to sell your unwanted vehicle. Because our expert network of scrap dealers and dismantlers is the greatest in the automobile industry, we can provide immediate quotations from our pricing comparison that will not be beaten.

When we've identified an excellent price for your scrap car, we'll assist you in arranging a free collection-so the location of your vehicle is irrelevant-and when the car is ready for collection; we'll even assist you in completing your DVLA paperwork. The customer is paid quickly, with funds transferred directly to your bank. There is no easier way to deal with an old or accident-damaged vehicle from start to finish. Recycling your car couldn't be easier.

“Do you pay cash for scrap cars?”

The respectable recycling centres with which we work do not pay cash for scrap automobiles. Therefore, avoid any sellers who promise payment for your scrap car. Furthermore, since 2013, it has been illegal to pay for scrap. Thus, buyers who do so are breaching the law and may face legal consequences.

All of our scrap partners are government-registered authorised treatment facilities, so you can be confident that they will handle your vehicle responsibly, and as it leaves on the back of their retrieval van to their site, your obligation for the car is fully discharged.

"What is the value of my scrap car?"

A scrap car’s value is determined by various characteristics, including weight, trim level, and engine type. The good news is that we work with many specialised dismantlers and vehicle recyclers who frequently provide more than just scrap value for specific makes and models. So we’re convinced that our pricing will not be beaten!

"What is the value of my scrap car?"

It makes no difference what condition your vehicle is in; we buy any car and offer a fair price.

Because of our specialised buyers and scrap partners, we can maximise the value of any make or model of discarded car.

If a V5 log book is available, please provide it.

We will notify the DVLA on your behalf if you have your V5 logbook. You will be given a yellow slip that you can submit to the DVLA for peace of mind. We can still take your vehicle even if you do not have your logbook. However, you must notify the DVLA because we cannot do so without the document.

After completing our online form, a collections staff member will contact you to arrange the most convenient date and time for us to pick up your vehicle. We usually collect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. However, if necessary, we can manage in the early mornings and late evenings.

Who will pick up my vehicle?

All of our drivers are Autosave personnel who are professional, trustworthy, and well-trained. In addition, our new, purpose-built collection vehicles are prominently labelled, so you'll always know who you're working with.

How do I set up the collection?

After completing our online form, a member of our collections staff will contact you to arrange a convenient time for us to come and collect your vehicle.

Regular collection times are 8-5 on weekdays, but we may collect early in the morning and on Saturdays if necessary.

We make the payment using a bank transfer (BACS). So the payment is made directly to your bank on the same day we pick up your vehicle.

Payments are made (16:45–17:00). If you require payment sooner, please notify a member of our team, and we will gladly accommodate you.

Please keep in mind that if we take your vehicle at the very end of the day, the driver may not be able to return to the site before accounts close for the day. In the unlikely event, the payment will be made the following morning.

You will be issued an invoice for your records. We can send this either via email or as a hard copy.

If you are still unclear about anything or need more information, our phone lines are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and at weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A member of our staff would be delighted to speak with you.

After collecting your automobile, you can contact your insurance carrier and discontinue your coverage. If you cancel your insurance before picking up the car, you will break the law if you drive it on a public road.

You certainly can. Before you can pick up your automobile, you must retain your registration with the DVLA, either online or by mail. Your registration will then be stored on a retention certificate until you transfer it to another vehicle.

End of Life Vehicle (ELV) is the term used to describe a car that is no longer suitable for use – either through wear and tear or damage. ELVs must be recycled at authorised treatment facilities.

ATF is an abbreviation for 'Authorised Treatment Facility,' which is another name for a scrap yard, breaker's yard, or vehicle dismantler that follows rigorous regulatory requirements for the processing of End of Life automobiles.

If you have any unused road tax when you scrap your automobile, you should contact the DVLA to reclaim it. Since tax discs are no longer available at post offices, you'll need to contact the DVLA directly by phone, mail, or their website.

Yes, our dismantler network can scrap automobiles registered in different countries. You'll need to notify the country's governing authority by sending them the completed registration document.

A Certificate of Destruction (COD) is a document confirming your vehicle's destruction. The DVLA generates the certificate, which is then delivered to a scrap yard that dismantles a car. Suppose you need a COD for your automobile for insurance or other reasons. In that case, you should request it at the time of booking since, even if your car has reached the end of its life with you, some of our professional salvage partners may repurpose it by repairing or transplanting it and putting it back on the road.
