Coil Spring Replacement in South London
A broken or displaced coil spring can affect ride height, steering and tyre clearance. SP88 checks the spring and nearby suspension parts before agreeing replacement, then confirms whether the exact vehicle and location are suitable for mobile work.
Confirm the fault before ordering parts
A low corner, clunk or MOT failure can come from a broken spring, but worn top mounts, dampers, bushes or tyres may create similar symptoms. We inspect the reported corner, spring seats and adjacent parts, and compare both sides before the repair scope is agreed.
The spring must be matched to the registration or VIN, axle, engine and vehicle specification. Similar-looking springs are not interchangeable.
Signs of a damaged coil spring
- One corner sits lower than the others
- A metallic clunk when steering or crossing bumps
- A visible crack, missing coil or spring out of its seat
- Tyre rubbing or reduced clearance
- An MOT advisory or failure for a fractured spring
A break can be hidden near the upper or lower spring seat, so a quick glance from outside the wheel is not a complete inspection.
What replacement can involve
The agreed job can include the spring and, when inspection supports it, worn isolators, seats, top mounts, bearings or a damaged damper. Whether springs should be replaced in axle pairs depends on manufacturer guidance, vehicle condition and the difference between sides; SP88 checks rather than making a universal promise.
Any extra work is explained and needs your approval before it is added.
Mobile work has safety limits
Spring removal stores substantial energy and may require a vehicle-specific compressor or workshop equipment. Mobile replacement needs firm, level ground, safe access and suitable equipment for that suspension design. Seized fixings, corrosion, restricted access or an unsafe spring position can mean recovery or workshop work is the correct route.
Driving and alignment advice
Do not drive if the spring is displaced, the tyre is rubbing, the vehicle is unstable or a broken end could contact the tyre. Arrange advice or recovery.
When strut or suspension geometry is disturbed, a wheel-alignment check may be required after the repair. SP88 will identify that requirement and will not present part fitting as proof that alignment is correct.

Arrange a coil-spring check
Send your registration, postcode, symptoms and any MOT wording. Photos can help with initial triage, but they do not replace inspection. SP88 confirms parts, safe access, scope and price before work starts.
Scheduled starts are weekdays at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00. Weekends are closed. Same-day availability is not guaranteed.
