CENTRAL LOCKING & DOOR-LOCK FAULTS
Central Locking & Car Door Lock Repair in South London
One door not locking, a boot that will not release, or locks cycling straight back open? SP88 diagnoses the electrical and mechanical fault before recommending a part.
Start with the symptom, not a guessed actuator
Central-locking faults can come from the latch or actuator, but wiring, a switch, a fuse, door-jamb connections, the remote signal or a body-control command can cause similar behaviour.
We check what the vehicle is asking the lock to do and what reaches the affected door. That separates an electrical fault from a jammed latch, worn linkage or damaged mechanism.
Useful details before the visit
- Vehicle registration
- Which door, boot or tailgate is affected
- Whether the key, remote and interior switch behave differently
- Any clicking, repeated cycling or intermittent operation
- Whether the door opens from inside, outside or neither
One door stays unlocked
A single-door fault often points toward that door’s wiring, latch, actuator, linkage or local connection.
All locks fail or cycle
A common supply, switch, remote-input or control issue may affect several doors. Diagnosis avoids replacing multiple good parts.
Boot or tailgate will not open
Release switches, wiring, actuators and latch mechanisms can all stop a boot or tailgate responding.
What the diagnosis may include
- Fuse, power and earth checks
- Door-hinge and tailgate wiring inspection
- Interior switch and release-switch testing
- Actuator or latch supply checks
- Mechanical linkage and latch inspection
- Control-module scan and live data where the vehicle supports it
- Correct-part identification before ordering
Mobile repair where access is safe
SP88 covers Wallington, Sutton, Croydon, Purley and nearby parts of South London and Surrey, subject to route and access.
Many wiring, switch, latch and actuator faults can be assessed at the vehicle. A door that is seized shut, crash-damaged, heavily corroded or requires specialist vehicle-entry work may need a workshop, body specialist or auto locksmith.
Lost every key or locked the keys inside? Say so first. This page is for lock-system diagnosis and repair; emergency entry and key replacement are not automatically included.
Repair and quote factors
The repair depends on the confirmed cause. Possible routes include wiring repair, connection repair, switch replacement, actuator or latch replacement, linkage correction or further control-system diagnosis.
Cost varies by door access, vehicle design, whether the latch and actuator are one assembly, part availability, corrosion and the time needed to open a stuck door safely. No part compatibility is assumed from appearance alone.
Planned appointment times
Scheduled services start on weekdays at 10:00, 12:00 or 14:00. Weekends are closed.
Call if the fault is leaving the vehicle insecure. We will confirm whether a mobile visit is suitable and what information is needed before a part is ordered.
Central-locking questions
Does one failed door mean the actuator has gone?
Not necessarily. The actuator is one possibility, but broken wiring, a poor connection, a jammed latch or linkage fault can produce the same symptom.
What if the remote does not work but the interior switch does?
That difference is useful diagnostic information. The remote, receiver or key may need a different repair route from the door locks themselves; key programming is not promised until the vehicle and fault are identified.
Can you fit a part I have bought?
Possibly, but the part number, door position, connector and vehicle build details must be checked first. Supplied-part condition and compatibility cannot be guaranteed from a listing title or photo.
Will you force open a deadlocked or crash-damaged door?
Not automatically. The safest route depends on access and damage. Some jobs need controlled workshop access, a body specialist or an auto locksmith rather than force at the roadside.
